Until now, all research has been aimed at curbing the disease. Recent research results point to a whole new future in which it will be possible to repair damaged nerve endings.
MS would no longer be a systematically incurable disease leading to irreversible disability, but a controllable disease with the potential to induce self-repair of the myelin sheath.
Therefore, it was important that remyelination was the theme of our symposium. Maintaining the organisation of this symposium, even in a complicated pandemic context, was essential, as the exchange of knowledge and experiences between researchers is crucial for advancing research into new therapies. The title of the 2021 symposium is "The Ultimate Challenge in MS: Neuroprotection and Remyelination Against Chronic Inflammation." National and international speakers are: Dr P. Maggi, Prof G. van Loo, Prof J. Hendriks, Prof P. Ponsaerts, Prof A. des Rieux, Prof Axel Petzold (GB) and Prof C. Lubetzki (France)
