GTA-MEG as a biomarker for cognition in MS
Cognitive regression is a major consequence of MS and affects around half of MS patients. To date, it has been extremely difficult to assess the cognitive status of MS patients; for instance, the correlation with the structural characteristics of brain areas is low. This collaboration between the Center for Neurosciences of Vrije Universiteit Brussel, the Functional Brain Mapping Laboratory (Laboratoire de Cartographie Fonctionnelle Cérébrale) of Université Libre de Bruxelles and the National Multiple Sclerosis Center in Melsbroek is intended to determine whether better results can be achieved by measuring brain activity using magnetoencephalography. This enables the brain to be studied as an integrated network and various network parameters to be calculated. We hope to be able to predict changes in the cognitive status of MS patients.
