At this point in time, there is no Belgian register of multiple-sclerosis patients. Moreover, several multiple-sclerosis drugs which, although more effective, also involve higher risks, have been or will shortly be released on the market, increasing the complexity of treating the disease. This has led the Belgian Multiple Sclerosis Study Group (BSGMS/GBESP) to propose the creation of a register in which patients would be entered when beginning a new treatment. The purpose of this register would be to monitor the progress of these patients in the long term and in an independent manner, even when their treatment is changed, with a view to detecting potential interactions, risk factors or favourable factors. The subsidy requested covers the secure online release of the register, to enable it to be accessed more easily by all BSGMS/GBESP neurologists.
